Anthropic Upgrades Claude Voice Mode With More Capable Models

Anthropic Upgrades Claude Voice Mode With More Capable Models

Anthropic has expanded Claude Voice Mode by adding access to its more capable Opus and Sonnet models.

The Claude Voice Mode update allows users to choose between Opus, Sonnet and Haiku, replacing the previous experience that relied mainly on the faster but less capable Haiku model.

Deeper voice conversations

Haiku was designed to provide quick spoken responses, but users increasingly relied on voice mode for more demanding professional tasks.

Opus and Sonnet are better suited to longer discussions, complex analysis and problem-solving. Anthropic says users can now talk through a client pitch, receive feedback on their communication style or brainstorm product research using voice.

Claude automatically selects the fastest version of the model most recently used in text chat. Users can also switch between voice and text or change models without starting a new conversation.

Connected apps

Voice Mode can access connected services including Gmail, Google Calendar, Slack, Canva and Notion.

This allows users to perform tasks such as drafting an email, changing a meeting time or creating a document through spoken instructions.

The integration gives Claude an advantage beyond simple voice conversations because it can use external tools to complete actions on a user’s behalf.

More languages available

Claude Voice Mode now supports English, French, German, Hindi, Indonesian, Italian, Japanese, Korean, Portuguese and Spanish.

Users currently need to select their preferred language manually rather than relying on automatic language detection.

The updated feature is available in beta across supported platforms. Free users remain limited to the Haiku model and one connected application, while paid plans provide broader model and integration access.

Anthropic did not announce changes to the underlying voice technology, meaning the update focuses mainly on stronger reasoning, model choice and tool use rather than improvements such as more natural interruptions or conversational timing.
